There is a young fellow who is currently doing training courses to get CPC, ADR, HGV, and BUS licences. I had the chance to take a look at his books and tests, and I found few very confusing phrases. I’m going to share my experience with you in the next few days. Keep reading my blog, please.
In an ideal world, everybody would learn, use, and proof the knowledge of regulations in the same way. But this is not the case in reality. They teach you the rules one way; you use another way and authority ask you to proof it an entirely different way. But only the drivers have to pay and proof their knowledge with a certificate. Have you ever asked an officer to proof his/her knowledge by a certificate? It would be critical to interpreting the related regulations in the same way. As an operator or driver, you could save a lot of money and time.
Let me show you these examples I mentioned above.
Case 1
Take a look at this picture.
It’s not the answer, but the question is wrong. (This young fellow is very smart 😀 ) What do you think, what’s wrong? Yeah. Something wrong with the reduced daily rest period. How many times can you reduce the daily rest a week? One or two maybe three or four whatever. Why? How the regulation defines the week? Let’s see.
“‘a week’ means the period of time between 00.00 on
Monday and 24.00 on Sunday (UTC time)”
So according to the question on the picture, you can reduce your daily rest period 3 times between Monday 00.00 and Sunday 24.00.
No, definitely NO. OK let’s see what rule says.
“A driver may have at most three reduced daily rest
periods between any two weekly rest periods.”
Between two weekly rest periods and NOT a week! What about if I take my weekly rest period on Thursday and Friday on week no.1 and Tuesday and Wednesday on week no.2. Let me show you a picture about this.
Remember, I have the right to reduce my daily rest period 3 times between 2 weekly rest period. So according to this picture I have the right to take only 9 hours breaks on Monday Tuesday Wednesday and Saturday-Sunday. 5 times a week!!! And it’s legal. One more picture about this reduced daily rest period. (Book : The Official Driver Theory Test, Questions and Answers)
What????? Poor fellows. And the boss doesn’t understand why are you taking 11 hours instead of 9.
Please share. Let people know this…
Thanks for reading, and see you soon.
